S-Bahnhof Rummelsburg is a 3D workpiece created for the module of 3D Technik. For the project we were tasked with recreating one of Berlin’s train stations in a game engine, for use within a game context.
The classes would cover the following processes, and would be the focus of the 3D Technik module:
- Modelling and UV unwrapping assets in Autodesk Maya
- Texturing the assets in the Allgorythmic Substance Suite
- Importing the meshes and textures into the game engine
- Lightbaking
- Post Processing Effects
- Animating & Rendering

Research was carried out by taking photos of potential assets on the train station. Further research involved taking measurements with AR tools and sourcing information and logos online. Assets would then be composed in Photoshop, modelled in Maya, textured in the Substance suite and imported into the Unity3D game engine.
I chose to replicate Rummelsburg S-bahn train station, favouring a quality over quantity approach. Focus was placed on replicating simple assets accurately and modularly, rather than building complicated structures of architecture. This resulted in a scene that is visually accurate, rich and detailed.
